Problem :

The Cowboys Music Festival needed a cohesive and memorable brand identity that could capture the energy of Calgary’s summer and Stampede season. Their existing materials lacked consistency, making it difficult to establish a strong visual presence across posters, merchandise, and digital platforms.

Solution :

I developed a set of brand guidelines that unified typography, colour palettes, and visual style across all touch points. The design featured sun-soaked colours, playful western inspired typography, and dynamic imagery, creating a vibrant system that worked seamlessly across print, digital, and merchandise. This ensured a recognizable and cohesive brand experience, no matter where the audience encountered it.

Challenge :

The main challenge was striking the right balance between honouring the festival’s western roots and appealing to a younger, modern audience. The identity had to feel bold and exciting while still accessible to a wide demographic of festival-goers.

Summary :

The new branding elevated the Cowboys Music Festival’s visibility and helped build anticipation leading up to the event. By combining consistency with creativity, the project demonstrated how thoughtful brand systems can transform a festival’s identity into a lasting and impactful experience.
